The Keg Steakhouse and Bar
500 Fort St.

I went to the Keg on Fort Street last week with SP for dinner. It was a night during the week and it was surprisingly busy. Even more surprising was the lack of service. We waited at the front of the restaurant for close to five minutes without a smile or even a hello from all the servers whizzing by. The hostess, a petite girl, walked sluggishly out of the washroom and took us to the bar seating, overall she had a lacklustre attitude, probably not the best choice for first impressions in a restaurant where most people are prepared to spend good money. Not to mention, it’s kind of gross to see a person who is touching your menu after they exit a washroom, is there no employee washroom to use? It seems common sense that it would be more professional. The restaurant was busy, fair enough, but the service was slow, the food took over 45 minutes. The guy who dropped it off apologized and said , ” sorry your food took so long”. He didn’t offer anything else other than that. It shouldn’t take that long to cook a steak medium rare. Unacceptable. You have to buy veggies and sides for extra, unless you want to eat meat with only a potato. The prices are high, and the quality is mediocre. They’ll continue to be busy because of their “chain” status, but that’s no excuse to be sloppy with service and attitude. The experience left nothing to be desired, and I won’t be spending money there again.
